1. How We Think About the Business
We believe that Keller Williams® exists to support our agents. That may sound very simplistic, but it is a completely different philosophy from those brokerages who believe that their agents exist to support and build the brokerage brand.
What that philosophy means to you is that we look for long-term relationships with the agents who choose to join us. As a result, we can invest in the training, support and technology that will help make you successful in the long run. And, the executive decisions of the company are made by our Agent Leadership Council. That Council is composed of the top 20% of our agents, and it gives every agent a voice in company decisions.
2. Our Goal to Build Wealth for Our Agents
We're serious about helping every agent build wealth. Our commission structure is one of the best examples of ways in which we work toward this goal.
Unlike many brokerages, our commission structure includes an annual cap on the amount of commission you split with your office. That's right. Once you've reached the annual cap, you keep all commissions on the rest of your transactions for the year. And, the calculation is based on an anniversary year. So, if you start in September, you don't have to start the cap calculation all over again the following January.
In terms of the company's culture, the cap on commissions has another interesting result: Every agent is valued at exactly the same level in terms of dollar contribution to the office. Think about that for a moment...
It means that we make hiring decisions that aren't based solely on production. We can (and do!) take the time to get to know someone who is interested in joining a Keller Williams® office. We evaluate whether the person is going to be a good addition to the team, and whether they will be willing to share with new agents after they become successful. We have the luxury of eliminating the "prima donnas" - and that makes a big difference in the atmosphere within every office.
3. Our Goal to Build Quality of Life for Our Agents
Quality of life. To us, that means not only making money, but having time to spend with family and friends, and the time and resources to pursue other interests. The key to helping our agents achieve a high quality of life focuses on providing opportunities to create passive income. When you create passive income, you have money coming in without your direct involvement. For example:
- You'll participate in your office's profit sharing plan. That's the first way you can build passive income.
- Second, we encourage you to brand and market your own real estate business. And, we'll help you to grow your business, and ultimately show you how to leverage your resources so that the business can run without you. It's the perfect vehicle to provide passive income or retirement funding.
